Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a partner?

Absolutely not! As Blake always said, "Dancing isn't monogamous, we like to get around." Our lessons are set up so you dance with every person in the class. This way you can meet new friends, see how different partners feel, and just break the ice before you step on your partner's toes. We're all there to learn, so just have fun with everyone!

How do the lessons work?

Currently, we teach two lessons each evening—beginning and intermediate. If you have never danced Salsa, or it's been a while since you've taken a lesson, come for the beginner lesson which starts at 9pm. If you're comfortable with the basics, and have a good understanding of what we always refer to—the "cross-body lead"—then step up to the intermediate class.

Presently, we employ four instructors; all are well-qualified to teach this style of dance and are fun to learn from. Each week, one instructor is assigned to teach the beginner lesson, and one to the intermediate lessons. Instructors rotate on a weekly basis, so keep coming to check out different instructors.

Do you offer workshops?

You bet we do! Typically, we do one to two workshops per quarter. For the workshops we bring in instructors from all around and lessons will last anywhere from a half-day to a whole day with a salsa party at night.

Where can I learn more?

A class is in the works for SpicySalsa! We are planning out a 6-8 week course that will be for those slightly advanced people wanting to take it beyond wednesday. We will work on latin styling, solid dance fundamentals, and of course the hot moves!

If you just can't wait or need another option, ask our instructors. Not only do they teach on Wednesdays, but they can also do private and group lessons as well. Contact us and we'll let you know how it works.

What will it cost to attend SpicySalsa?

We only charge you 4 bucks to get in the door. From there you can take the lesson, dance and drink. Now, the first two are free but the drinks... they will cost you just a little dough(hey, a brother's gotta live). We encourage you to be a fun loving patron of the bar and treat the folks at The Library right. Its not that we want everyone to get sloppy, stay spicy of course, but the more love we show, the more The Library will love having us back. So come in, get a couple drinks, and have a blast!

What should I wear?

Dress to impress. We're not "kind-of-SpicySalsa", we're bringing it hot! So come out and look good, but make sure you can still get your groove on because you are here to dance!

Tips: Avoid shoes that you can't move in (crazy heels, sandals, or rubber gym shoes), shorts, and fellas - leave the croakies at home.
